Call for Article

I am in something of a bind, and I need a favor. Is anyone who has played Silent Hill (the videogame) willing to write about its effectiveness as a horror story? I'm looking for the angle that views the videogame as a legitimate storytelling medium without defensiveness.

Anybody up to the challenge? *puppy eyes*

I'd have to see the movie first, and I wasn't planning on it. But Silent Hill 2 scared the holy beejezus out of me when we were playing it. We played it in the dark, with the sound through the stereo. It was scary as shit.

We reference it all the time. Just the other night, we were walking down an alley and this drunk guy was kind of lurching towards us, dragging his leg and ranting about something unintelligible. I grabbed Dan's arm and whispered, "SILENT HILL! SILENT HILL! Hit him with the pipe!"

We didn't, though. Hit him with a pipe or anything.

Hee. Alas, the article needs to be in before the film comes out. Sort of a favor I owe to the studio, and I have this great angle, but it involves having played the game. Which I haven't.

Well, I have, but I'm not completely sure I could defend Silent Hill as a video game that would translate well into a movie.

Wouldn't have to. Just have to focus on the game, really. So long as the article is about some iteration of a first Silent Hill (videogame in this case). I'll edit in the annoying parenthetical about "oh and hey, movie" later.
