I am a big huge dork who read that phonetically as chorror and sat there trying to figure out what chorror was supposed to be for a good thirty seconds before I put one and one together and finally read it right.

Oh, I like chorror_rss. It has a certain ring to it. I just thought it was funny that I sat there for a bit trying to figure it out, when I should know by now that you posting about horror is going to be Classic Horror related.

Have you read the interview that Stephen Bissette gave? There's some good stuff in there about the difference between the late 60s, early 70s horror classics and the remakes that are coming out recently. I think you'd like it.

I really liked how he talked about the desperation of the early filmmakers vs. the contentment of the current ones. It really rings true, you can see it in the film just how desperately the former wanted their film to do well and convey what they were feeling.

And he uses the perfect example to demonstrate - Texas Chainsaw Massacre, one of the most desperate accidentally-reflective-of-current-social-mores horror films out there, and its remake, which was fun but a bit calculated.

My best friend is friends with the guy who played Leatherface. That is my tie to movie fame. I've never met the dude, but apparently he's huge.

It's really an interesting point he made, though. It really makes me want to make a low-budget movie myself, although I think I'm far too calculating a person to ever truly make a horror film -- I'd have to be fully comfortable with how it goes. I think I could make a decent suspense film, though.

Horror can be polished and calculating. Usually those are the horror films that don't horrify so much as crawl under your skin and walk around. The Wicker Man is an excellent example of that. Plus, it has Christopher Lee, which is always bonus.

Actually, C-H isn't written to the XHTML standard, so I have to hand-code the feed.
