I've been having these really vivid nightmares again, usually within the first half-hour after I fall asleep.

They suck.

Weirdly, I haven't really watched any horror films lately. Maybe they keep me sane or something?

Interestingly enough, that might make sense. Your brain has an imaginative nature which tends toward the horrific and can be sated by fiction, perhaps? I'm no psychologist or anything, but I'd buy it.
